Born on January 10, 1930 to Ralph Bennett (an English immigrant) and Blanche Hargreaves, Stan passed away on May 30, 2017 in Auburn, Calif.
Stan was a people person, best known for his positive and optimistic outlook on life. When asked "How are you?" Stan usually replied "I am great".
Stan served two terms in the U.S. Navy starting at age 16.
Stan retired from the San Bernardino County Health Department where he managed the Contagious Disease Program for many years. After retirement he worked in the Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage program for an additional 13+ years in both the San Bernardino and Placer County areas.
His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Lou Bailey, His son Stan, Jr. and wife Patty, and son Daniel and his wife Sharon all of Galt, Calif.; his daughter Kathy Black of Kingsport, Tenn., his stepson Chris Felton of Copperopolis, Calif.; step daughter Cathryn Vaughan of Pea Ridge, Ark.; eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, with two more on the way. He was pre-deceased by his parents and brother Ralph.
A celebration of Stan's life will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalist Church at 190 Finley Street, Auburn, CA 95603.
