Bill Smithson passed away on June 6th at home, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, surrounded by his loving family. His thirst for knowledge led him to two masters degrees and many contributions in the field of engineering, including V.P. of Engineering for Adaptec, Brocade and Quicklogic. Bill was known for his unconditional love for his family and friends, his gentle and compassionate nature, and always lending an ear for those needing guidance. Bill is now with his mother Ruth, father Billy and his son Jeffery. He is survived by his devoted wife Joan, daughters Nicole and Julia, five grandchildren Christian (Sidney), Jeremy, Isabella, Maddie and Colin and two great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a Vigil Service Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 7:00P.M with Visitation beginning at 6:00P.M at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Avenue, Sunnyvale.
