Rubina "Ruby" Ortiz
At rest on February 27, 2015. Ruby was the loving wife of the late Mamerto "Johnny" Ortiz for over 39 years. Devoted mother to John, Greg and the late Richard Ortiz. Cherished sister of Jose, Ricardo Jr., Marie & Aurora and the late Consolacion, Annie, Lollie, Nenita, Marcelo & George.
Ruby was born in Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines where she attended Holy Family College and was a survivor of the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines during WWII. She came to San Francisco in 1960. She enjoyed her career as a clerk in the US Postal Service for 23 years, it was a family affair with Mamerto and two of their sons all working for USPS. Ruby was a long time member of the United Pangasinan Assoc., she enjoyed attending the Dog Days of Summer at AT& T Park and organized countless holiday parties both at home and at work. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a gentle loving soul.
Friends may visit on Thursday March 5, 2015 from 4:00PM to 9:00PM and are invited to attend the Vigil Service also on Thursday at 7:00PM and the funeral on Friday March 6, 2015 at 10:30AM from the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. 4840 Mission St., SF then to St. Elizabeth Church where an 11:00AM Funeral Mass will be celebrated, followed by the Committal Service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
