Julie passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2014 at the age of 35.
Born and raised in Redwood City, Julie spent fifteen years working as a butcher in the food production industry before relocating to Pleasanton three years ago. After relocating, she changed her career path and managed the office at Essential Business Concepts in Pleasanton.
There is one thing that could be said about Julie and that is that she loved life. Anyone who met her fell in love with her beautiful smile and wonderful, free spirit. She absolutely loved the outdoors, gardening, cooking, eating, drawing, and telling jokes and stories. She had dedicated herself to healthier living and enrolled in college with the aim of receiving a degree in health and nutrition. Her spirit shown like a bright light to all who met her and she made friends everywhere she went. Our world is that much dimmer now that her light has gone out but our lives are that much richer for having known her and experienced all of the zest for life and love she had to offer.
She is preceded in death by her father Bruno Zan and is survived by her mother Anne Crandall. She will forever be missed by her twin sister Kelly Koertner and Benny of Berlin, Germany; Lisa Shukov and husband Misha of Moscow, Russia, and Christina Gray and husband Lonnie of Pleasanton, California. She was Auntie Julie to Nicholas, Alexander and Max Shukov as well as Lauren and Ethan Gray and loved them all dearly. She was also the loving niece of Mary Ellen Stone; Guido, Romano and Mario Zan; and Vittoria Brunello.
A celebration of her life will be held at Graham Hitch Mortuary located at 4167 First Street in Pleasanton on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at noon.
