Tributes for

Register, Gloria

Gloria Register was born to Carl Schrouder and Sylvia Willoughby on January 23, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By age six, the family moved to New York City where she became a product of the New York City school system graduating from Julia Richmond High School class of 1963. She met her husband, Charles Register, who was a neighbor and friend since the age of eight. They were married on September 8, 1968. Following marriage they moved to San Pedro, California. On October 12, 1969 they welcomed their first child Shelly. After her husband’s discharge from the US Navy and Vietnam War, the family moved to Santa Ana, California to pursue new career opportunities. Their second child Jason was born April 21, 1974. Shortly after, Gloria began a career with the Santa Ana Unified School District, where she managed to rise from a volunteer lunch supervisor to Cafeteria Manager. While working she completed an associate’s degree from Santa Ana College, and the certificate program in food services at Orange Coast College. She retired in 2004 from the Santa Ana Unified School District after 30 years of service. Gloria was a fighter and persevered through challenges with her health for nearly a decade following retirement. Her fighting was not in vain, as she was able to pass peacefully in her sleep without pain. Gloria is survived by her husband, Charles A. Register residing in Santa Ana, California, her two Children, Shelly C. Register residing in Santa Ana, California, and Jason C. Register residing in Huntington Beach, California, her brother, Carl Schrouder residing in New York, New York, along with several nieces and nephews.
