Tributes for

Abell, Barry Allen

A man who will forever be remembered for his courage, love, humor, work ethic, and devotion to the family of which he was so proud. Barry is survived by his beloved and devoted wife Janine; sons Matthew, Sean, Patrick and Timothy; daughter-in-law Jayda; mother Maxine Klaput; brother Leslie Abell; and the extended Abell and Haupt families. The Chief Executive Officer of the Abell Auction Company, Barry was the third generation Abell to head the company during his 44-year career - following in the footsteps of his grandfather A.N. and father Robert from whom he learned so much.
Barry gave selflessly of his time and leadership to raise money for so many causes close to his heart, including Loyola High School, Holy Family Catholic Church, Mayfield Junior School, and Stop Cancer. As a coach and then Commissioner of the South Pasadena AYSO, Barry was a second dad for 15 years to scores of boys who grew into men on the playing field.
Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1501 Fremont Avenue, Pasadena, CA on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 811 Wilshire Blvd Suite 1600, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
Barry's warm and reassuring smile in the face of the many health challenges he endured is part of his inspiring legacy. His love will be felt by so many for decades to come.
