Ball, Dr Robert Edward

Robert Edward Ball born January 7, 1927 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at St Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday August 20th 2013. Dr Ball was born in Santa Ana as was his father, Dr Dexter R Ball and mother, Edna M. Taber Ball. He graduated from the University of California San Francisco Medical School and continued a family legacy of medical care in Orange County, practicing Internal Medicine in Santa Ana for 33 years. In 1989, he professionally transitioned to become the first VP of Medical Affairs at St Joseph's Hospital. Upon retiring in 1999, he continued to serve the St Joseph's Hospital community in various fundraising and Foundation Board positions. Dr Ball was an inspirational and loving father and grandfather to his 5 children and 14 grandchildren. He is survived by his vivacious wife of 64 years, Vinka Papac Ball. As an avid fly fisherman, Dr Ball found peace in the outdoors which he shared and enjoyed with his family and friends. Family, friends, colleagues and community will miss him and cherish his memory with love and affection.

The family will hold a rosary on Wednesday 8/28/13 at 6:30 in The Waverly Chapel of Fairhaven Memorial Park 1702 Fairhaven Ave. Santa Ana, Ca 92705 . The Memorial Mass for Dr Ball will take place on Thursday, 8/29/13 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Cathedral 566 South Glassell Street Santa Ana, Ca 92866.
