Tributes for

Steiner, Marie

Steiner, Marie, passed away on July 18, 2013 with family members holding her hands. She was 100 years old.

Marie, the youngest of 4 children, was born in Illinois to Italian immigrant parents. She graduated from college and taught in a one room school house in Decatur, Illinois.

She met Sandy Steiner, a Hungarian immigrant, on a vacation in the Wisconsin Dells.

They married and eventually moved to Newport Beach, where Sandy became a successful realtor. Marie spent her time caring for their two children, Julie and Michael. She loved to sew and made beautiful clothing and costumes for her children and spent much of her time shuttling the children to and from their many activities. She was very giving of her time and talents, even becoming a Brownie Scout leader. Marie's personal passion was music and she spent many hours practicing and became an accomplished pianist.

Over the years she also learned classical guitar, flute, recorder, and played in many musical groups. She explored other art forms and excelled at oil painting. Her hand made cards and caring messages delighted friends and family. Marie was also an avid folk dancer and continued dancing into her 80's.

Sandy, her husband, died in 1994 at age 91. Marie leaves behind her son Michael, daughter Julie (Fred Olson), grandson David (Julie's son), daughter in law Cherie Price-Steiner, granddaughters, Ashley (Matthew Beach), Alexandra, and infant great granddaughters Grace and Kennedy Beach. Mimi, as she was lovingly called, . . . . may your kind, loving spirit continue to play sweet music in our hearts forever. You will be missed!
