Bertolini, Lawrence "Larry"

Lawrence "Larry" Bertolini passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2013 in Corona, Calif. Larry was born in Omaha, Nebraska January 1938 to Parents Art & Nadine. His adopted hometown was his beloved Palm Springs, Calif. where he resided for over 50 years before recently moving. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Terry Bertolini. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley of 22 years; Son Michael Bertolini Sr, Daughter & Son-in Law Theresa and John Mathews, Sister Judy (Bertolini) Sandberg, his two Stepdaughters Karina & Shanna Amsbry, 3 Grandsons, Michael, Josef & Kolten Bertolini also Sarah, Gracie and Gavin (grandchildren). Brother in Law Ron Burt, and many more extended family members and loving friends. Larry worked for Palm Springs Police, The Ambulance Service and for many years Desert Hospital Security. He loved people, and had a gift for entertaining everyone with his humorous stories. Always greeting you with a big smile, he loved life and would tell you he lived a full one. His attention to detail never ceased to amaze, he had an exceptional memory for faces and facts. He kept in touch with his former co-workers from all over, never missing a chance to catch up at his affectionally called " Oldtimers Group" Always a devoted father and husband, he loved to cook and spend time with his family. He also was an animal lover, and his adored 3 cats were spoiled like no others. You most likely would meet him wearing one of his many USMC hats. He was a former Marine who believed in the freedoms of our country. While he had deep mid-western roots and spoke fondly of his hometown his true home was his cherished desert, Palm Springs, where he spent most of his life and had many friends who admired him. In accordance with Larry's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, where there will be a short Graveside Service on March 22, 2013 at 1:45pm. We will have a memorial to honor him at Wiefels Palm Springs Chapel on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 10am.
