Hoyt Jr., Roland Stewart "Mike"

Mike Hoyt of North Tustin passed away in Palm Desert on January 1, 2013. Mike was born in San Diego, son of Roland S. and Ethel Livingston Hoyt and attended San Diego High School. He served his country for four years as a Navy Pilot and following his military service completed a Bachelor of Science in Business at UCLA in 1956. Mike married Barbara Bennell Collins on December 10, 1955 and have raised two children, Gregory S. Hoyt of Paradise Valley, Ariz., and Jennifer H. Gough of North Tustin. Mike spent 57 years developing, managing and leasing industrial and commercial properties in Southern California and Arizona. He was a respected member of the business community known for his passion, drive and integrity. Mike was considered by many to be a modest man that never took center stage, but rather contributed his talents and good fortune to help others behind the scenes. He created The R.S. Hoyt, Jr. Family Foundation in 1999, which is recognized as one of the leading foundations in the Southwest. His hobbies included work, reading, politics, western art, country music, flying, travel, golf and fishing. Favorite times were spent with family and friends in Palm Desert, Arizona, Baja California, Hawaii and Idaho. He was a loyal friend, a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Mike strived to live his life guiding and supporting others in hopes of leaving the world a little better than he found it. He will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him. His grandchildren will miss their "Pop Pop". Mike is preceded in death by his brother Livingston Beach Hoyt "Bill" of Boston, Mass. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara, son Gregory (Megan), daughter Jennifer (JP), four grandsons Brendan, Briggs, Wade and Chase, and his beloved Labrador Chamie.
