McRae, Bonnie B., 88, October 4, 1924 to January 3, 2013. Those who knew Bonnie McRae will remember her as an enthusiastic world traveler, avid bridge player, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bonnie grew up in Springfield, IL, daughter of Howard M. Barbre and Marie Staley. She married C.C. Pete McRae in Montgomery Alabama in April of 1945. They moved their young family to California in 1951 where Bonnie was the owner of the Wee Wisdom Nursery School. She continued in her career in education in the career development office of Santa Ana Valley High School, where she worked until retirement. Bonnie was a proud member of Chapman University Town and Gown, she was loyal to her lunch group "The Frogs", and dutifully rang the bell for the Salvation Army. Bonnie lived a full and satisfying life and died peacefully without suffering. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, C.C. Pete McRae; brother, Melvin Barbre and sister, Carole Newell. She is survived by her son, Peter McRae; daughter, Marcia Nellesen and her husband Steven; her grandchildren, Grant and his wife Virginia, Matthew and his wife Lisa, and Philip and his wife Krista DeVaul; and great grandchildren Jasper, McRae, Oliver, Finley and Paige DeVaul; and her son and grandson by volition, Tommy and Kyle Hackett. A memorial service and reception will be held at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 183 East Bay Street in Costa Mesa on Saturday, January 12th at 11 am.
