Godinez,Mary Louise Moraga, age 88, a long-time resident of Santa Ana, passed away January 1, 2012.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she warmly embraced her grandchildren and enjoyed their company and activities.
Mary had a strong moral compass and a special consideration for those in need. She was that person who quietly assisted family and friends.
Mary had an exceptional work ethic which she displayed in her cooking and in the preparation of numerous social and dinner events in her home.
Three hundred tamales on Christmas Eve was a tradition. Mary also had a tax preparer business for many years and later in her life, her entrepreneurial spirit emerged
and she started her own successful floral business. Within months, she saved enough money from her floral accounts to pay cash for a new Mercedes Benz. Mary also made her own real estate investments.
Two of her favorite pleasures were visiting with her sisters and attending the annual Moraga family reunion.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hector G. Godinez in 1999.
She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, eldest son, Hector Ron, his children, Tiffany, April (deceased) & Hector III; great-grandchildren, Hector James, Charlie,
Stella, Olivia, Alyssa & Preston; daughter, Linda Miller, her children, Nicolas, Mary & Ana; daughter, Gloria Munoz, her children, Ricky, Robbie & Raquel; son, Robert.
She is also survived by five sisters, Sally, Annie, Dorothy, Helen and Irene; one brother, Rudy.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Santa Ana. The committal service following the Mass will be private.
