MATTOS, Melissa Anne Born October 1, 1969. After courageously battling cancer for 16 months, Melissa passed peacefully on September 7, 2011. A loving and dedicated mother of two, she is survived by her sons, Ryan Jerry Gray and David Alixander Gray; devoted life partner, Mike Rosen; father, Jerry Felix Mattos; mother, Dona-Marie Berg; sister, Christine Marie Mattos, brother, Michael William Mattos; four nieces and nephews; and three great nieces and nephews. Melissa had a sweet and sensitive nature and a pure heart, and, above all, was a loving, devoted mother. Family heritage and traditions were very important to her, and she wanted to show her sons that these were their past as well as their future. She adored animals and not only had several pets (including her beloved Chihuahua, Amelia), but she also worked for more than 13 years at a local animal hospital. Her motto, "The Sky's the Limit" encourages us all to remain optimistic and to not take any moments for granted. Graveside service, 10:00 AM, Saturday September 10 at Sylvan Cemetery District.
