Tributes for

Schroeder, Iris

Schroeder, Iris Eileen, 89, entered eternal life on December 27, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on February 4th, 1926 in Santa Ana, California and lived there most of her life. She graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1943 and from Santa Ana Junior College in 1945. In 1948, she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Art from UCLA with an emphasis in Interior Decorating and Costume Design. These were to become life-long interests.

She married Dwight C. Schroeder in 1951. She put her design talents into designing and making her own wedding dress and going-away suit. She and Dwight lived in Pasadena for a short while and then moved back to Santa Ana where she designed and decorated the home they had built and would live in for the rest of their lives. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and spent many happy hours making her home a lovely and gracious place and was noted for her hospitality. She and Dwight were long-time active members of Grand Avenue Church where she used her many artistic talents to glorify her savior, Jesus Christ. She also loved to travel the world with Dwight.

She preceded her husband Dwight in death by just three days and was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Schroeder. She is survived by her daughters, Sherrill Smith and Lori Goodfriend; son, William Schroeder; sons-in-law, Michael Smith and Jeff Goodfriend; grandchildren, Timothy, Michael and Kristen Goodfriend, and Matthew and Eric Smith; sister, Alice Pieper; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was a beautiful, sweet, loving, and talented woman who blessed the lives of all she met and who loved and served her Lord Jesus. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service for both Iris and Dwight Schroeder will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Santa Ana United Methodist Church, 2121 North Grand Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Orange County.
