Santos, Mike

At age 95, Mike passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 18, 2017. Born October 1, 1921 in San Bernardino, CA to Yso Santos and Carmen Avina, he was a decorated veteran of World War II and Korea, earning an Army of Occupation Medal in Japan, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars as well as a Bronze Star. He retired from military service having lost a leg while serving in Korea. He was a hero. As a resident of Pueblo, Colorado, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann. A resident of Sacramento since 1955, Mike was self-employed, establishing his own business in the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics until his retirement in 1984. He was the patriarch to a very large group of family and friends, instilling kindness, generosity and a sense of humor to everyone through his own actions. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, brothers Manuel, Saferino, Arthur Trujillo, daughter Marylou and son Joseph. Survived by his children Vicki Sandoval (Leo), Darlene Jaramillo (Danny), Mike (Elaine), David (Lucy), Robert (Linda), Daniel (Linda), Deborah Silva (Mike), Carl (Gloria), and Arthur (Rebecca), along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other beloved relatives. Viewing and remembrance will be held at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers at 2691 Riverside Blvd. in Sacramento, Wednesday, July 26 at 1pm.
