Tributes for

Sallot, Ruth H.

Blessed was she among women! Ruth Hendricksen Sallot was born the fourth of five children in Cleveland, Ohio on February 18, 1925. Her family moved to Riverside, California in the 1930’s where Ruth met Lloyd Sallot. They married in 1947 and settled in Santa Ana to raise their family. Mom used her teaching degree from UC Santa Barbara to teach for nearly 20 years in the Orange Unified School District as well as at a remedial reading center in Orange. Her best teachings and love were given to her four children, Joan (Doyle), Steve, Rick and John. Later those gifts were extended to her 8 grandchildren, Matt, Greg, Megan, Steven, Danny, Timmy and Brian Doyle, and Joshua Sallot, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Mia Doyle and Levi Stromberg. After 60 years of marriage, mom became the master of the home our father had singlehandedly built for her and their family, when dad died on St. Joseph’s day, 2008. Mom kept her Catholic faith alive by being a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Tustin and being part of daily Mass, Bible Studies, Women’s Prayer Groups and Mission Circles as well as nurturing her own prayer life with daily Scripture reflections. She actively engaged her faith by being a founding member of Mary’s Shelter and being part of the food crew at Mary’s Kitchen for many years in Orange. Our mother has claimed her Easter a bit early this year, but we have loved her life with us and we are much better for that life and love she gave us.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Cecilia Church, Tustin. The committal service will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange.
