Jose Vicente Ruiz
On Wednesday April 29th at 6:30AM, we lost our beloved Jose Vicente Ruiz.
Jose was born on October 22, 1960 in Lima, Peru and grew up in Eureka Valley in San Francisco.
An amazing husband to Victoria Fry Ruiz, father to Devin (Cam Altamura) and Alex (Giulia Maffei), son of Nelly and Alberto Ruiz, brother to Nelly Ruiz van Ruijven (Rene) and Jessica Ruiz Sapojnikoff (Gyorgi), son-in-law to Carmen and John Fry and friend to many including his Fry Golf family.
He was, in his last days, surrounded by his wife Vikki, the love of his life and his kids Alex and Devin. His family completed his life. Similar to how he lived his life, family always came first.
Alumnus of Most Holy Redeemer, Riordan High School (Class of 1978) and San Francisco State University, Jose was a true San Franciscan.
Jose was an actor, a master of everything golf related, a keeper of Ghirardelli Chocolate secrets, a walking encyclopedia of facts and a lab technician.
Regardless of the trade he practiced, nothing gave him more pride then his family.
His passion for theater was passed on to his children.
It was in fact an acting class where he met his wife Vikki.
Their love for each other was so apparent to all of us close to them. It was Vikki's strength that literally carried him through his darkest hour. The "wind beneath his wings" as they say.
"Papasia" the name Jose was known by, at least by all the kids in the family was every child's favorite. Whether it was his warm heart and smile or his consistent demeanor, every kid gravitated to him. It is that spirit that will live with us most.
He will be missed always and forever. Always loved and never, ever, forgotten.
Friends may visit Duggan's Serra Mortuary from 11:00am on Wednesday, May 6. The Celebration of Jose's Life will begin at 12:00pm
