Purviance, Dora Marie (Walls) Dora Marie Purviance (Walls) was born in Bakersfield, CA, on March 5, 1927, to parents Ethyl and Edgar Walls. She was the eldest of four siblings. She passed away peacefully on October 9, 2014, in Vacaville, CA. She was pre-deceased by her parents Ethyl and Edgar Walls, her husband of almost 67 years, J.R. Purviance, M.D. and an infant daughter, Cherie Renee Purviance. She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Marie Rarick (Dr. Ivan Rarick), her granddaughters Denise Jones (Ted) and Valerie Gregory, her great-grandchildren Collin Reeves, Alaina Silva, Hannah Silva, Connor Jones, and Madeleine Jones. She is also survived by siblings Ellie King (Bob), Helen Miller, and Charles Walls (Bonnie), sister-in-law Eleanor Purviance Dittrich and numerous nieces and nephews. Dori graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles in 1945. She was a waitress at Van de Kamps restaurant in Los Angeles, where she met the love of her life, Richard, who was working in an emergency room across the street. They were married on January 17, 1947. Their life together was one grand adventure after another. They lived in Long Beach and then moved to Sacramento to start his medical practice. In the late 1950's, she moved with her husband and young daughter to Paris, France. She loved living in Paris for the year. They enjoyed traveling as a family and visited many countries while living in Europe. In the early 1970's, she opened a women's dress shop, The Price Tag, in Sacramento. She enjoyed the fashion world and had many loyal customers. After her husband's retirement, they moved to San Juan Capistrano where they lived for many years before returning to Northern California to be near family. Dori will forever be known as an elegant, beautiful, and classy woman. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Rest in peace, Mom (Granny Dori). Dance with Papa amongst the stars!
