Joseph "Joe" Manfro
January 31, 1936 ~ March 17, 2017


Joseph "Joe" Manfro passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 17, 2017, at age 81. He is survived by his wife Vera and seven children. Joe also leaves behind several grandchildren.
Born in San Francisco, CA to Anthony Manfro and Florine Garrison, Joe moved many times as a child and worked in various occupations throughout his life. Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served oversees in Karlsruhe, Germany as an aircraft mechanic. During this period, Joe had four children from a previous marriage: Debbie, Bobby, Cathy and Tina.

Joe later met Vera while working as a hairdresser for Pavon's in Los Alamitos. They soon married and settled in Los Alamitos, enjoying a marriage of almost 47 years, and raising their three children: Eddie, Joe and Lisa. Joe is best remembered in the community as a local plumbing contractor, operating Standard Plumbing in Los Alamitos for over 20 years. In his retirement, Joe enjoyed traveling with Vera, tending to his garden, and tinkering in his garage. He also enjoyed meeting friends for coffee, fishing, and time with family.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday March 27th at 10:30 am at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 11482 Los Alamitos Blvd., Los Alamitos, CA. Reception immediately following at 12:30 pm at the Lakewood Elk's Lodge, 12507 E. Carson, Hawaiian Gardens, CA. His interment will take place Tuesday March 28th at 10:30 am in Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA
