Lauderdale, Robert "Bob"

Robert Alton (Bob) Lauderdale, born Aug. 1, 1930 on Whidbey Island, WA, passed away on Sept. 23. Bob served as a Lieutenant in the Navy for three years and completed 20 years in the Reserves. He was a teacher, counselor, and then Vice Principal with the San Jose Unified School District for 36 years. Throughout his career, he helped hundreds of children navigate into high school, and he was highly respected by his peers. Bob was a voracious reader, loved abalone diving, skiing, and traveling the world with his beloved wife, Jean.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; brothers, Chuck and Ray; children, Christopher, MaryAnne, Jean, Richard; stepchildren, Stephanie, Kathy, Sharon, Monica, Steven; and grandchildren, Joni, Aric, Christine, Erin and Carlos (who shared Bob's birthday). Bob's fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, at noon at the Fairfield Funeral Home in Fairfield. Following the service, a military funeral honors ceremony will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Bob to The American Cancer Society , www.cancer.org.
