Our sweet mother Margaret Janice Lamoureux Tujague, 85, passed away August 1, 2013 in her home in Tustin, California.

The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm followed by her Funeral Mass at 4:20 pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Tustin, CA on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, with Father Joe Miller officiating. A private burial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. Brown Colonial Mortuary is handling the funeral arrangements.

Janice was born in New York City to James and Mary Donlevy Lamoureux on January 6, 1928. She was raised on Long Island, New York. As a graduation present, she received a trip to Los Angeles and never left. She met her eternal sweetheart John Tujague and they were married July 1, 1949. Jan and John moved to Tustin in 1961 where they raised their three daughters.

Through her wonderful example of service to others, our mother taught us the true meaning of charity, which is the pure love of Christ. She was nominated three consecutive years by St. Joseph Hospital as a Catholic Woman-of-the-Year for Volunteerism. When she retired from her volunteer work, she had accumulated over 21,000 hours, more than anyone in the history of St. Joseph Hospital. Her volunteer assignments included Recovery Services, Messenger, Messenger Trainer, Dispatcher, Gift Shop, Physician Education and Altar Lady.

Additionally, Jan served on the Board of the Camp Fire Boys & Girls Council and was the first female usher at St. Cecilia Church. She and John served as the first Eucharist Ministers at St. Joseph Hospital.

In-between their volunteer work Jan and John found time to travel to several countries throughout the world. A highlight in her life was an audience with Pope John Paul II.

Our mother will surely be missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. She faced her final struggle with dignity and inner strength. Her faith in the Lord never wavered as she endured to the end.

Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her parents, James and Mary Lamoureux; and her two sisters, Mary Lodermeier and Irene Leon.

Janice is survived by her three daughters, Marie (Chris) Olson of Orem, Utah; Louise (Harold) Jacobsen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Emilieanne (Terry) Martin of Tustin, California; 9 grandchildren, Kerstin, Kari, Heather, Christian, Sondra, Sharlet, Brett, Reed and Rex; and 22 great grandchildren, Tildy, Taber, Elijah, Alison, Lauren, Eden, Stockton, Nash, Lyric, Christian, Christopher, Price, Jacob, Benjamin, Eliza, Daniel, Emery, Todd, Lillian, Anna Gracie, Adalyn and Graham.
