Ken Irom
Of Palm Desert, Calif. died on Thursday, January 16, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old. Ken and his wife, Beverly, would have marked their 55th year of marriage on February 1, 2014. They are the proud parents of Melissa of Redlands, Calif.; Rachel (Thomas) Gluckman of Moorpark, Calif.; and Benjamin (Allyson) of Temple, Texas. Ken was thrilled to be the grandfather of Eden, Elana and Daniel. Ken is also survivied by his sister, Harriet Gittleman of Forked River, N.J. Ken retired from a long career in pharmaceutical sales, having represented such industry giants as Merck and Smith-Kline. He was a familiar face and valued resource to medical and hospital personnel throughout Southern California. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Joseph and Sylvia Irom, Ken cherished his roots and always maintained his ties to NY. Ken and Beverly moved to California in 1964 and lived in San Bernardino, Calif. for many years before retiring to Palm Desert. Some of their closest friends in California have been people they knew from Thomas Jefferson High School and Brooklyn College. Ken held a B.A. from Brooklyn College and a J.D. from the University of La Verne. Ken served on the board of trustees of Har-el Congregation in Palm Desert and previously served on the board of Congregation Emanu-El in San Bernardino. Memorial services for Ken Irom were held on Tuesday, January 21 at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Cathedral City, Calif. In lieu of flowers the Irom family requests that donations be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 42-600 Cook Street, Suite 202, Palm Desert, CA 92211, or Hadassah Medical Center, Davidson Hospital Tower, c/o N. Wiesenthal, 78198 Foistoria Lane, Palm Desert, CA 92211.
