Tributes for

Fredrick, William Charles

William Charles Fredrick (19 November 1925-31 August 2017)

We have lost a remarkable Christian soul and incredibly accomplished and humble American in William Charles Fredrick--a devoted husband, devout Lutheran, a kind and loving and extraordinarily wise father and grandfather, a true and brilliant friend and sibling. Born on a farm near Strawberrry Point, Iowa, Bill was one of nine children of William and Emma Fredrick. A Navy veteran from 1943 til his honorable discharge in 1946, he served in the Pacific Theater as a radio technician. Graduated from Wartburg College in 1948 with a degree in Physics and with letters in Varsity Football, Baseball, and Track and Field. Married high school teacher Shirley Rae Beeman of Grundy County, Iowa--theirs was the happiest of unions, lasting 56 years until her death in 2007 on August 31st. Bill worked as an aerospace engineer for many years before venturing into business for himself. He returned to the engineering/defense industry in midlife, managing teams at Rockwell International. At age 55, simply on a sort of whim or for a challenge, he attended Western State School of Law, taking his J.D. degree and passing the California Bar in 1981. Bill's singular warmth, eloquence, generosity, and no less than terrific sense of humor will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and fellow churchgoers. He is survived by brother Ray, sons John and Mark, daughter Susan, daughter-in-law Krickette, grandsons John Chandler and Hayden, granddaughters Abby and Gwendolyn, and second wife Corinne. Memorial services to be held on Saturday September 30 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., 33501 Stonehill Road, Dana Point, CA 92629
