Tributes for

Cornett, Carl

Carl Wesley Cornett, aged 93 years, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017, in Sacramento, Ca.
He was born in Flat Ridge, Virginia, on March 21, 1924, the tenth of fourteen children of Malinda and Stuart Cornett. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Cornett worked for many years as an electrician in the Washington, D.C., area, until he and his wife retired to a home in Flat Ridge. He is fondly remembered by family and friends for his warm sense of humor and common sense advice. He was also known as a great competitor at the Pinochle and Rook tables.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret Watson Cornett; loving son, Craig Cornett; daughter-in-law, Mary Meuel; and granddaughters, Sarah and Emily, all of Sacramento. He is also survived by a sister, Lillie Parks; and three brothers, Don, Bill, and Claude Cornett.
A funeral service will be held at the Comers Rock Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Central Cemetery Fund (151 Cherry Stone Ave., Bluefield, VA 24605), and the Comers Rock Cemetery Fund (230 Archery Lane, Elk Creek, VA 24326).
