Tributes for

Carlile, Robert William

Send a Note

Robert (Bob) William Carlile, Sr. started his family life at a young age in 1955 when he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Cuff. By their third year of marriage they had two kids, Cindy and Ken, and were living in Newark, New Jersey. The Carlile family eventually made their way to Southern California for career opportunities for Bob, thus beginning a new chapter in their life.
Three more kids, Sharon, Kathy and Bob, followed as they put down roots in Garden Grove. During Betty’s last pregnancy while living in North Tustin, Bob received the news that Betty had cancer. He was devastated, but the type of cancer she had was very aggressive and they were told it would eventually run its course. Shortly after their last daughter Maribeth was born in 1966, Betty lost her short battle with cancer and left Bob and his 6 children. Bob’s twin sisters, Roselyn and Marilyn, moved from New Jersey to help with the kids. A couple years later Bob met the new love of his life, Ellie. They fell in love, married, and with Ellie's two kids from a previous marriage, Liz and Jim Accurso, they went on to raise their now large family of eight children.
Bob was an innovator in business creating the Card Lock fuel system still in use today, computerizing Escrow and Title companies by processing the paperwork in a more efficient and compliant way, and in the 1980’s was awarded one of the top 50 businessmen in Orange County.
Bob was extremely proud of his big family and doted on his kids and grandkids. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Ellie, his sisters Roselyn and Marilyn, his brother Bill, children Cindy, Ken, Jim, Sharon, Liz, Kathy, Bob, and Maribeth; his Grandchildren, Elizabeth Murray, Kevin Conway, Alyson Pelletier, Travis Harder, Robert Carlile, Joey Pelletier, John Carlile, Spencer Harder, Campbell Conway, Brady Harder, and Brett Carlile, and his great grandson Will Murray.
The loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather (Boppy) was taken to heaven on Dec. 7th, 2014 at 3:38 p.m. after a long battle with vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. He is in paradise now and as Ellie says, he is once again the smartest guy in the room.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Saturday December 13 at La Purisima Catholic Church. A private family commital will take place Monday December 15 in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
